Day 1

This is our first day of adventure. Everyone woke up very early and excited to go on the trip except for Eugene. We packed our bags and started driving to North Carolina. The car trip was about 7 hours; about 400 miles. Julia did not like the drive from New Jersey to North Carolina. She would constantly cry. Luckily, there was a DVD player that saved us all. Julia watched Tom and Jerry (her favorite) the whole car ride. Our direction of going to North Carolina was slightly irregular. We went as far south as we could to a county called Cape May. There, was a ferry called Lewes Ferry that took us from Cape May to Delaware. Then we drove to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel otherwise known as Rt. 13. Finally, after 7 hours of sitting, we arrived at our hotel in one piece. It was getting dark so we went to sleep and waited for tomorrow to come.

Day 2

We woke up the next morning, got dressed, and went to go eat breakfast. There were delicious waffles that you make yourself and all types of sweets. When we finished eating we went to the beach. The water was freezing, but Eugene and I still went in with our boogie-boards. We also took a skim board which is a skim board that you use to ride little waves and its very fun. Then we saw some professionals came and they jumped, dived, and spun in all different directions. It was amazing just watch how they rode the waves. The water was too cold for Julia so she went in the pool where the water was very warm. Then at around 1 or 2 o'clock Julia would take her mid-day sleep and the rest of us would eat. When Julia would wake up we would all go to a sightseeing place for tourists such as us. So today we went to the island Manteo to go to a state park called Fort Raleigh. That is were Roanoke Colony became the Lost Colony and still no one knows what has happened. We left that park with questions ourselves. Where did the colony go? What happened to all the houses? Did they all die or just left the colony? We all went to sleep with a million questions in our head.

Day 3

This is our 3rd day and the vacation is going great! As always we woke up, got dressed, and went to go eat breakfast. After that we went to the beach, but the water was still cold. So today we brought tennis paddles and set up a tournament of tennis. When it was about 2 o'clock we went to go eat lunch and Julia went to sleep. We found through brochures that there is a show in the park we were in yesterday. When we came there it was only 5 o'clock and the play started at 8:00 so we wandered around the park for about a half an hour. We drove Valentina and Julia home since it was her bedtime. When it was 8:00 the show started. It was about how Roanoke Island became the Lost Colony. When the England people first came to the new world (present day America) they found native Americans and the English gave them gold in order to take their land and they agreed. But, the natives got sick because of the English men's common cold. they were not used to that kind of illness but the English men where. When the native got cured they didn’t want to get sick anymore so they attacked the English men and their colony, but the natives lost but did manage to kill quite a lot of people. When the colony was running low on supplies, Sir Walter Raleigh went back to England to get more. Unfortunately, England was in a war with Spain and no ships could leave the docks or else they would sink so Sir Walter had to wait 3 years. 3 years later, when Raleigh returned to the colony with supplies, no one and nothing was there except a message carved into a tree: "Croatoan. "It was very interesting, but unfortunately it ended quickly. We drove home and waited for another thrilling day.

Day 4

We woke up and as always; we got dressed and went to eat breakfast. We went to the beach and set up another tennis tournament. We also brought a kite with us this time and tried to make it fly. Unfortunately, we were not like he Wright brothers so we struggled getting the kite in the air we gave up on it today, but omorow we were ready to fly that kite! After that Julia went to sleep and we went to the highest sand dunes on the East coast known as Jockey's Ridge state park. Near that Park was a beach and the water was very war there so while me, Eugene, and George went to the dunes, Julia and Valentina swam in the ocean a lot of people were parasailing so that made us jealous of them because it is almost the same thing as flying a kite, but you have to be in water so its harder. We saw people sand gliding too, but we didnt actually sand glide, but we pretended we were. Later, we also went for a swim and then drove home. We found out that the Wright Brothers Memorial was near our hotel so we are going to go to it tomorrow, but for now we went to sleep and waited for tomorrow to come.

Day 5

We woke up and as always; we got dressed and went to eat breakfast. We went to the beach and set up another tennis tournament. Then, again we tried to fly the kite, but still we failed. Anton suggested that we put the kite on the ground and just run as fast as we can and the kite stayed up for about 20 seconds eventually the kite broke because it crashed an awful lot of times so we put it back in its bag and forgot about it. After that Julia went to sleep and we went to the Wright Brother Memorial to see the first airplane in flight. Wilbur and Oliver Wright constructed the first airplane and they showed a replica on display and it was really cool. Their first three attempts failed, but the fourth they traveled very far. They actually showed where they started flying and where they ended flying. Unfortunatley the visitor center burned down and we didnt see the big version of the air plane. Also there was too much to see so we didn't see everything and today was our last day so we were sad. For the last time, we went to sleep in the hotel and for the first time, didn't want tomorrow to come.
